A school trip with history and fun

We went on a field trip with our older students. The 35 students from the higher classes and our teachers took the bus to Cape Coast in the early hours of the morning. Cape Coast is a coastal town to the west of Kokrobite and we arrived there after a two hour drive. There is an old castle in Cape Coast where our students were given a child-friendly tour of the colonial history and slave trade in Cape Coast. After this rather depressing topic, we drove on to the Kakum National Park. In the rainforest, suspension bridges had been built from tree to tree so we could all admire the rainforest from dizzying heights. Of course we also had a picnic in the beautiful nature. On the way back you could see the effort of the day on the tired and sleepy faces of the children.

The day was a nice break from the normal school day and everyone is looking forward to the next trip.
